The Ventura County Friday Night Live Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a youth-driven, youth-led group committed to empowering young people to develop into high achieving, responsible, and healthy adults. The YAC acts as an advisory to the FNL programs established within Ventura County. The group meets once a month and is open to all youth in grades 4-12. In keeping with the principles of Friday Night Live, the YAC develops the leadership skills of youth and promotes making positive changes in their communities while addressing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use and violence issues. The YAC operates on a youth development framework in that all meetings, activities, and events (including the annual Youth Conference) are planned by youth and for youth.
In addition, there is a YAC Alumni group comprised of former YAC members ages 18 and above. The alumni group is very active and serves in a leadership and mentoring capacity to the general YAC group.
